News Update: New Centre for theory and practical courses
by Janet Prescott - Saturday, 16 July 2016, 11:09 AM

Just to let everyone know that from September 2016 we will have a third teaching centre for RHS theory and practical courses - at Bampton near Faringdon [between Oxford and Swindon].

Bampton Garden Plants is the retail side of the wholesale nursery Rupert Gooddy Plants;  they are expanding their garden centre  and design business, getting involved in garden talks and events and as part of this they are building a classroom for us for theory and practical work, and creating soil plots on the site over the summer.  It's going to be a great benefit  to be studying in a working horticultural environment, surrounded by plants at different stages of development!

Tony Davies will deliver level 2 and 3 practical courses there, and we are delighted that the former Head of the Oxford Botanic Garden, Timothy Walker, will be teaching level 2 theory classes there for us from September. Some of you may have seen his excellent television series on botany - I have links to clips from it in some of the notes - and know what a brilliant communicator he is.

At the moment we haven't decided whether this will also be an exam centre, but it seems likely so we will keep you posted on this.
