Urgent update on RHS Examination dates

From the RHs today:

RHS Qualifications continues to monitor the UK Government guidelines and advice from public health authorities concerning the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). We accept that our approved centres are having to take specific action as a result, in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all learners and centre staff. This includes closure of many centres / sites.

We wish to be able to support all users of our qualifications at this difficult time, and are therefore announcing some changes to our assessment arrangements this summer. These changes have been made after careful thought and are designed to ensure that learners are treated fairly and are provided with the best opportunity to successfully complete their studies.

Theory Examinations (Level 2 and 3)

With the disruption to centre-based learning programmes, it is accepted that learners may well not be ready for assessment in June. It is also the case that many centres that have closed may not have re-opened in time to effectively deliver these exams.

To ensure that all learners have fair and equal access to assessment, we have decided that the suite of examinations due to be held for Level 2 and 3 scheduled between 22-25 June 2020 will not proceed. Instead they have been postponed to 14-17 September 2020. A revised timetable will be available on Quartz.

It is our intention that this delay will provide sufficient time for learners to prepare for assessment and for centres to be able to re-open successfully at the beginning of the new academic year. Equally, we have not pushed the dates back any further as we do not wish to impact on new programme starts in September.

Learners already enrolled on the June examinations will be automatically transferred to the corresponding September dates, however they may defer to the February 2021 session at no additional cost. Learners are asked to contact their centre to discuss such arrangements.

Results will be released on 2 December 2020 and the final entry date for the February 2021 exams delayed until 22nd December 2020 to provide an early opportunity for any learners to resit examinations should that be necessary.

However, please note that we will be keeping the situation under review, as the safety of our learners and centre staff is paramount. If it becomes clear that it remains unsafe to sit these examinations in September, we will reconsider our position. Should this be the case, we will provide advice at the earliest opportunity.
